Having quenched my thirst for the history of Ancient Rome, I’ve moved on to more contemporary studies. Now that I’ve wandered about St. Peter’s, I decided to read about the greatest assembly ever held there. What Happened At Vatican II by John W. O’Malley claims to be an accessible, readable account of the Second Vatican Council, the post-war gathering of Catholic officials from across the world that forever changed Catholicism. O’Malley promises that the Council was just as dramatic as the building in which it was held. I’ll let you know what I learn.
